Link Building – Is It For Great Rankings or Penalty

I had spoken about what is link building in my earlier post, now I will take this discussion further to Is link building good or bad.
Recently we have seen the link building spamming cases caught by Google of J.C Penney, warning to Forbes and penalty to overstock.
These all three have tried to play with links to get better ranking in Google for their products, J.C. Penney had bought links with proper anchor text, where as overstock had caught for getting links from students & professors giving them discounts on products. And Forbes was warned by Google for its un-natural links. So now what do you conclude is link building is a great way towards good rankings or it’s a way towards penalty from Google? Think about it.
I guess I have scared you enough by telling how these biggies got messed with Google for link spamming but link building is not always bad. If you use it properly and in a natural way, links will help you in a great way.
Just keep in mind that you don’t have a bad neighborhood, you don’t link to spamming websites or the sites which buy or sell links. Always try to link to high authority websites and high PR websites they help you a lot in getting good ranks, try to get links from .edu, .gov Google gives lot of importance to such links.
Keep in mind that you don’t build all the links in a single day, remember that Google is always watching you and your link activities. Build links slowly each week.
The best way to create links is –
- Do blog commenting on other good PR websites
- Create such content which other links to on their websites
- As others to speak about your services if they are happy with your services
- Do Directory Submissions
- Do articles Submissions
- Create lens on Squidoo and Do Guest Blogging on others Blog
- Use Social Media to create back-links
- Do Social Bookmarking
If you use all this in natural way I am sure you will achieve Google back links with high rankings, All the Best to you.

According to IAMAI, Total internet advertising market in India was estimated to Rs 785 crores in FY 2009-2010 and is expected to go to Rs 993 crores in FY 2010-2011.
Overall display ads market is expected to grow at 28% as compare to text ads market to 26% in YF 2010-2011. You may be amazed to know that online advertising is mainly dominated by Display advertising than text Ads. The saying goes true “Jo Dikhta hai Vo Bikata hai”. The reason behind display ads taking the lead is that we see things even we are not interested but we don’t read things until we are really interested in it. Display ads helps in “BRAND RECALL” as whenever a website visitor visits the site he can see the ads, he may not click on it but he got the impression where as if text ads would had been there the visitor wouldn’t had recognize it or could not had recognize the brand.

Total display ads market in india in 2009-2010 is estimated Rs 417 crores and will to Rs 534 Crores with 28% growth in FY 2010-2011.
Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Travel, Auto and telecom have spend the biggest amount on display ads and remain to do so for this Yeas as well.

Total Text ads marketing in India is estimated to Rs 368 crores in FY 2009-2010 and hope to go to Rs 459 crores in FY 2010-2011 having 26% growth rate.

- Acquiring customer through online medium is going to be the main motto of e-marketers in year 2011.
- In 2011 top three e-marketing channels for investments are Social media marketing, Search Engine Marketing and E-mail marketing.
- 52% of the top online marketer agrees that it is important to synergies email marketing with social media marketing to get better results.
- Currently email marketing is the favorite channel for marketers as it is easy to use, however e-marketers are worried about the response rate as it too low comparative to search engine marketing. However they are currently facing the challenge of reaching the inbox to the right audience and building customer database depending on Target customers.
