How many Internet Users are there in India

As per IMRB study on internet users in India, there are 52 Million active internet users in India in September 2009, here active users refers to the users who uses internet at least once a month.
It has been seen that mainly internet is being used for entertainment & communication, Use of social media – facebook, twitter, YouTube and blogging are favorite activities on internet.
In User classification, school going kids contribute to 14% of the internet usage, fowled by 30% from college going students, men contribute to 41% where as working women & non working women contribute 8% and 7% respectively to the entire internet usage in India in 2009.
37% of people access internet from cybercafés followed by 30% from office and 23% from home where as 8% is from school/college and other places.

Online Advertisement Research Survey Report India 2010-2011

According to IAMAI, Total internet advertising market in India was estimated to Rs 785 crores in FY 2009-2010 and is expected to go to Rs 993 crores in FY 2010-2011.
Overall display ads market is expected to grow at 28% as compare to text ads market to 26% in YF 2010-2011. You may be amazed to know that online advertising is mainly dominated by Display advertising than text Ads. The saying goes true “Jo Dikhta hai Vo Bikata hai”. The reason behind display ads taking the lead is that we see things even we are not interested but we don’t read things until we are really interested in it. Display ads helps in “BRAND RECALL” as whenever a website visitor visits the site he can see the ads, he may not click on it but he got the impression where as if text ads would had been there the visitor wouldn’t had recognize it or could not had recognize the brand.

Display Ads -
Total display ads market in india in 2009-2010 is estimated Rs 417 crores and will to Rs 534 Crores with 28% growth in FY 2010-2011.
Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Travel, Auto and telecom have spend the biggest amount on display ads and remain to do so for this Yeas as well.

Text Ads –
Total Text ads marketing in India is estimated to Rs 368 crores in FY 2009-2010 and hope to go to Rs 459 crores in FY 2010-2011 having 26% growth rate.
